that is exactly what I was thinking even before I saw your post, NewBe! (great minds think alike, I guess...😊)
why must writers of almost every show on television “ship up” 2 characters in the series? is this the primary “Rule of the Series”? Rule #1: “There must be a sexual attraction and subsequent relationship between two main characters of the show. This is to take place despite the fact that absolutely no chemistry exists between two said characters!”
I don’t watch the show, but didn’t they hook-up those 2 characters on NCIS: LA? (the female lead and the guy who looks like he hasn’t showered or washed his hair in months...) I wouldn’t have touched the guy much less “done the deed” with him! 😝 Ish - - Yuks - - or whatever it is y’all say...

Just NO, I don't want a TIVA revival with Bishop/Torres being the new leads. That's a recipe for disaster in the making!!

No just no. Lets stick to the cases and get off the soap opera route.

Fall TV Spoilers 2018: Scoop on 40 Returning Favorites
NCIS
Season 16 opens just a day or two after Vance’s abduction, but following the title sequence jumps ahead four weeks, where Gibbs, filling in as director, “is in a position of authority that he doesn’t feel comfortable with,” says co-showrunner Frank Cardea. In fact, that added burden will eventually tee up an episode the producers are very excited about, in which “Gibbs decides to take a little R&R at his favorite cabin in the middle of nowhere,” only to get unexpected guests in the form of Fornell and Captain Phillip Brooks (returning guest star Don Lake) — “and they drive him crazy,” reports EP Steven Binder. Other early outings include a whimsical “mystery on Wisteria Lane” (as they call it), followed by an episode that “explores what happens when NCIS meets reality-TV” (and in doing so reveals which agent is surprisingly fluent in the TV genre). Then, in Episode 6, when Ducky seeks to return to autopsy on a full-time basis (alongside a more confident Jimmy Palmer), “We’ll see how that works, with two chefs in the kitchen!” says Cardea.
BONUS SPOILER!: “It’s been a while since we’ve done anything with Gibbs’ ex-wives,” Cardea notes. “Those episodes always pop, so we may be seeing more of them.”
RETURN DATE: Tuesday, Sept. 25 at 8/7c (CBS)

Sure hope that they don't bring the one that was killed back from the dead. Had more than enough of those kind of story lines with Mike, as Gibbs' conscience.

Thankfully Diane is dead. Rebecca was a Diane clone. That leaves Stephanie - and as she's the only one I liked she's the one I'd like to see again.

One more dreaded idea - one of Gibbs' many enemies goes and finds a woman who looks like Shannon, gets some plastic surgery and voice coaching to perfect the double, then uses her to torment Gibbs.

LOL. Great imagination, Hari. Sounds like a fan fiction. IS it a fan fiction?
Crazy as it may sound, I'd prefer THAT story than anymore visits by dead Mike Franks.

That said, the Highlander example is more accurate as the character (Tessa) being impersonated had been dead for a while and was the lead character's wife while Jaime Sommers was very much alive and no male love interest was involved.

Ask Ausiello: Spoilers on Grey's, Walking Dead, Power, Young Sheldon, Riverdale, House of Cards and More
Question: Can NCIS fans hope to hear more of Gibbs’ rules? In these last few seasons, they seem to have faded away. —Jenny
Ausiello: “That’s always a possibility,” said EP Steven Binder, when Matt Mitovich hand-delivered your question. “We have two new writers on staff and usually our new writers are the ones who like to create a new rule, so I wouldn’t be surprised.” As he explained, “The rules create themselves, to fit a need in the story.”

tvline.com/2018/09/11/greys-anatomy-season-15-meredith-andrew-deluca-romance-spoilers/ I found the highlighted text more interesting than the spoiler. I wonder who the two new writers are and who are the two that left!
