I was hoping that they wouldn't repeat the same story line from last year but you never know!

Is a JAG/NCIS Reunion Crossover Nigh? 'I Think the Fans Would Really Dig That'By Matt Webb Mitovich / August 24 2018, 5:30 PM PDT'JAG" stars Catherine Bell and David James Elliott (Shutterstock) Fans of the JTU (JAG Television Universe) recently came closer than they know to having Harm and Mack back on their screens. The faithful should not, however, give up hope of seeing the JAG leads resurface on one of CBS’ NCIS series.
NCIS of course was spun off of JAG, in a two-part “backdoor pilot” that introduced Gibbs, DiNozzo, Abby and Ducky (played by Mark Harmon, Michael Weatherly, Pauley Perrette and David McCallum). As recently as March, JAG vet John M. Jackson reprised his role as Rear Admiral “A.J.” Chegwidden on NCIS: Los Angeles (in what has turned out to be a bit of a recurring gig). Jackson also appeared in a 2013 episode of NCIS, while Patrick Labyorteaux has popped up on the mothership three times, as JAG‘s Captain Bud Roberts.
But to date — across 28 total seasons of NCISes (NCISeese?) — neither Catherine Bell nor David James Elliott have slipped back into their uniforms. Yet.
“Last year there was a point where Catherine and David were both available, and I was trying to make that work,” NCIS: Los Angeles showrunner R. Scott Gemmill tells TVLine. “I forget what episode it was, but I had a little opening, so I had casting check and she was available, and David was available….”
Though that “reunion” (albeit on one of NCIS‘ own offshoots) did not come together, “That still is a goal of mine, to get as many of the original JAG players back in an episode,” Gemmill says. “I have such fun when John’s here, it’d be great to put them all together again. I think the fans would really dig that.”
Bell herself very recently told TVLine that she is holding out hope for what we will call a cross-back-over, as Lieutenant Colonel Sarah MacKenzie, JAGC, USMC.
“We’ve talked about it forever,” said the actress, who now headlines Hallmark’s Good Witch. “I would love to put on my old uniform and show up on NCIS. That would be really fun.”
Echoing the aforementioned logistical/scheduling challenges — “It’s always been like, ‘Let’s do it…,’ ‘No, not now'” — Bell nonetheless has faith that the NCIS franchise that JAG (which ran for 10 seasons) begot will be around long enough to make it happen.
“Maybe one of these days…,” she said. “They’re still going, aren’t they!”

I replied to the article. I'd love to see them - individually or together on NCIS: The Original Series.

But then the question of what happened with the coin flip at the end of JAG will have to be answered. In the past, NCIS has honored the secrecy. And while Donald B. may no longer control NCIS, he may still control the characters in JAG and the story line. While a lot of people may want to see Harm and Mac together again, I would imagine that with the departure of Donald running NCIS being contentious as it was, and with the conflict over the spin off NCIS:LA also being contentious, Donny may not be so willing to let that answer out. Just a thought.

DJE once stated that he never will play Rabb again, so unless he changed his mind I doubt that we will see both of them on any NCIS, even though I would love that. Bell is interested, so if they can fit their schedules I would like to see her on the mothership.
I also would like to see more of Chegwidden on the original NCIS.

I have some memory of Mr Bellisario saying he regretted the "coin toss" ending to JAG. If Mr B has control over his characters I doubt he'd have given the OK for Patrick and John (Bud & Patrick) to appear with the latter not appearing until he'd been gone for several years.
The show wouldn't be trying to make it happen if Mr B wouldn't allow Bell & Elliott to appear as Mac & Harm.

Wouldn't one or both of them be retired by now? I can't recall how much time Harm and Mac had in the service at the end of JAG but it has been 14 years since the show ended. It's quite possible that they're both out of the service by now. That could make it easier to avoid answering who won the coin flip, which I figured they wouldn't answer in deference to how JAG ended.

They were both of significant rank when JAG began which means they already had several year in their respective branches of service from day one. I'm sure the one who stayed in the military would be retired by now.

He's a doofus most of the time (Tony-redo). She went from Jake to [just drew a blank on his name] the guy who came with the team back from Afghanistan and now to Nick? How incredibly dull to do the same crap with different characters.
