‘NCIS: Hawaii’ Commences Production In Oahu, Stars Partake In Traditional Hawaiian BlessingBy Alexandra Del Rosario

The stars and creative team of NCIS: Hawaii have touched down on Oahu.
CBS revealed on Thursday that the latest NCIS spinoff has started production on the Hawaiian island and kicked off the first days with a traditional Hawaiian blessing to pay respect to its host Hawaiian culture. The traditional ceremony took place on Wednesday, June 16.
Stars Vanessa Lachey, Noah Mills, Jason Antoon, Yasmine Al-Bustami and Tori Anderson, as well as the producers and the NCIS: Hawaii, participated in the ceremony officiated by Kahu Ramsay Taum. The Wednesday event also included traditional royal maile leis, the Oli Aloha chant and the Pule Ho’oku’u prayer.
Created/executive produced by NCIS: New Orleans executive producers/showrunner Christopher Silber and Jan Nash as well as SEAL Team writer-producer Matt Bosack, NCIS: Hawai’i is set in the Aloha State. It follows Jane Tennant (Lachey), the first female Special Agent in Charge of NCIS Pearl Harbor, and her team as they balance duty to family and country, investigating high-stakes crimes involving military personnel, national security and the mysteries of the island state itself.
Other Hawaii-based shows, including Hawaii Five-0 have also commenced their production on the islands with similar ceremonies.
NCIS: Hawai’i will debut in the fall, airing Monday at 10 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.

NCIS: Hawai'i: Alex Tarrant Joins as Series Regular, Enver Gjokaj to Recur By Matt Webb Mitovich / July 8 2021, 1:11 PM PDT Alex Tarrant and Enver Gjokaj are both bound for Hawaii, as the latest cast additions to CBS‘ new NCIS spinoff.
Vanessa Lachey (Dads? Truth Be Told?) heads up the freshman drama as Jane Tennant, the first female SAC of NCIS. Other previously announced castings include Yasmine Al-Bustami (The Chosen) as Lucy, the eager, junior member of Tennant’s team; Jason Antoon (Claws) as Ernice, a cyber intelligence specialist; Tori Anderson (No Tomorrow) as Kate, an agent of the Defense Intelligence Agency who is intent on climbing the professional ladder; and Noah Mills (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier) as Jesse, a former big city homicide detective who’s settled in a new life in Hawai‘i.
As reported by our sister site Variety, Tarrant (800 Words, New Zealand’s Vegas) will fill the series regular role of Kai, a local who “can blend into any part of the islands.” Having spent most of his adult life running away from his home, he has returned to Hawai‘i as an NCIS agent.
Gjokaj (Dollhouse, Agents of SHIELD) meanwhile will recur as Navy Capt. Joe Milius, a high ranking commander of Pacific Fleet who arrives in Hawaii when a top secret experimental aircraft crashes into a cliff, and he in turn clashes with Tennant.
NCIS: Hawai’i will debut this fall and air Mondays at 10/9c, leading out of the NCIS mothership (which is changing its night/time slot for the first time… ever). Christopher Silber and Jan Nash will serve as co-showrunners.

other than the fact that this show is another part of the NCIS franchise, I wonder how well it will do?
I assume using the original NCIS as a lead in will get it some viewers, but will it stand on it’s own?
just because it’s being shot in Hawaii isn’t enough to keep me interested... I love the city of New Orleans, but even that didn’t keep me watching NCIS: Nola
I have absolutely no idea who any of the actors are in this Hawaii version! do you?

I will probably watch the first episode or two just because I try to give new shows a chance, but I don't see anything there to make me care if I don't.

Maybe it's my age, but I never heard of any of these people.

I'll probably give the first episode a try, but this series will rise or fall with its lead and I don't see Lachey as a strong lead. Don't know any of the others either except the one who will be recurring. Don't know his name, but he looks familiar.

let’s face it, folks, most of us probably have clothes in our closet that are older than most of the actors in this new NCIS iteration - - at least I do (and so does Maxine)! 😉
I have never seen anything any of them have appeared in because the shows just don’t interest me... unfortunately, there isn’t a helluva lot that interests me on t.v. these days... 😕

Alex Tarrant was in a dandy little show in New Zealand called '800 Words', about a columnist whose wife dies so he takes his two teenagers to New Zealand to get away from it all and we thought it was great. The writing was terrific and the cast was talented. Alex played an islander who was quite the heart-throb. The New Zealand scenery was unbeatable. It'll be interesting to see what Alex does with his new role in Hawai'i. I don't know a thing about anybody else in the cast. We'll watch for the scenery and the stories but if the plots plod or there's too much gore or violence we'll move along. We liked NCIS New Orleans until they started splattering blood all over the place and beating the holy snot out of Our Heroes. That, to me, is a poor substitute for good story-telling. Yawn...

That show I remember actually it was on UPTV channel that we lost on my cable provider.

nas I've got a nice overcoat I suspect may be as old as me, but I'm not sure.
Dollhouse probably wasn't your type of show, but Enver was brilliant on it. The "dolls" were people who could be programmed with any memory and personality desired and though a supporting character, Enver stood out because of how well he could do anything that was thrown at him. He's done 2 or 3 episodes of The Rookie which you might like, though since it's 3 seasons in it's probably not a great time to start on it.
I don't think I'm familiar with any of the other actors.

Is it just me or does it always look like they spend more money on the NCIS spin-offs than the original?

This looks like a cross between NCIS Los Angeles and Hawaii 50 - color me unimpressed!
